44 year old TMC political leader seen getting head message from first year student at Sonarpur College | Watch

A video showing 44-year-old Prateek Kumar De receiving a head massage from a newly admitted female student inside Sonarpur College has led to widespread discussion. De, who is no longer a student of the institution, was filmed sitting inside the college campus while the student performed the massage. The incident occurred within the premises of the college and involved a fresher who had recently joined the institution.

Prateek Kumar De holds several positions in the student and youth wings of the Trinamool Congress. He is the coordinator of the Sonarpur College Students’ Council, appointed by Sonarpur Dakshin MLA Lovely Maitra. In addition, he serves as the president of the Rajpur Town Trinamool Youth Congress and also heads the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad for the Sonarpur Dakshin Assembly constituency. Despite these roles, De is a former student of Baruipur College, not Sonarpur College.

The presence of a non-student in an official role within the Sonarpur College campus has raised concerns among students and others familiar with the institution. Questions are being raised about how De continues to exercise access and influence inside the college. The incident has added to existing scrutiny regarding the functioning and oversight of student councils and external political involvement in campus affairs.
